Texel day 1 - day 5

Texel is the largest island of the ‘Wadden’ islands group, and without a doubt, offers the most variety for tourists. The seven villages each have their own unique characteristics. The island offers a countryside, 40 nature reserves, and a huge wealth of bird colonies and exceptional flora. The icon of the island is the Texel’s breed of sheep, there are twice as many sheep on the island as there are people!

The dunes of Texel national park covers more than 25 percent of the islands surface. They stretch along the island’s beautiful coastline. Everywhere on the island, tourists will see beautiful nature in a peaceful atmosphere, they will also get a taste of the island’s turbulent past.

Day 1

On the 2th of July the check in at camping ‘Kogerstrand’ is from 13:00 o’clock. Campsite Texel Kogerstrand offers the opportunity to enjoy a very pleasant beach holiday, only one row of dunes separates the camping from the North Sea so the guests can walk from the camping, directly to the beach. The camping gives opportunities to swim, adventure, walk through the forest and dunes, all the

way to the beach to enjoy a nice swim.

Texel campings is the biggest camping site on the island and it is mostly visited by families with children. This

because there is a lot to do on the camping site and it is close to the beach, forest, and dunes.

During the first day we recommend exploring the campsite. After that ‘Paal 20’ is the place to get dinner.

Day 2

One of the most popular activities for tourists is the boat trip organised by Frido Boom, two shrimp fishing boats depart from the harbour of Oudeschild 3 times a day during summer and twice during winter, people aboard get to touch taste, smell, and see all kinds of fishes that are caught during the boat trip. The trip starts at 10:30 o’clock and it is advised to be there at least 15 minutes in advance. The trip will take approximately 1,5 hours.

On your way back it is a must to go past ice producing farm Labora. In a nice environment you can enjoy some ice cream. In good weather, the children can entertain themselves in the large garden with playground while you as a parent can enjoy the fresh air, animals on the farm, in a very

peaceful environment.

After enjoying your ice at Labora it is time to go back to the camping. With the beach close by a nice swim or relaxing time at the beach makes sure the end of the day will stay calm. For a well-deserved meal at the end

of the day we recommend Paal 19, it is at the beach and close to the camping

Day 3

On the third day you will first visit the ‘Slufter vallei’. It is a national park and is unique in the Netherlands but offers a lot. Walking through it gives an incredible experience . it is possible to go picnicking when reaching the beach. After walking through the ‘Slufter vallei’ it is time to go to Ecomare. It is a museum about the nature on Texel and it explains what you just saw.

Next to being a museum they also shelter seals.

After visiting Ecomare it is only a short drive to De Koog. In this village it is possible to get some food. We recommend Vogelhuis-Oranjerie. It is on the shopping street and offers a big range of foods.

Day 4

When you are on Texel you can’t miss them. We are talking about the sheep. Sheepfarm ‘De Waddel’ has 500 sheep and everybody can visit the farm to experience the farm life. It is possible to pet and feed the sheep.

Do you like fresh fruit and local grown products? Self-picking garden ‘De zelfpluktuin’ is the place to go. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and grapes they

have it all. The entry is free but the fruit that is picked has to be payed for.

To end of the day it is again time for the beach. The long coast offers loads of quiet and good places to enjoy the setting sun. It is recommended to go to the beach in front of camping Kogerstrand. It is the most popular part of Texels beach but isn’t too crowded. Also many restaurants are in the area.

Day 5

After a 4 day stay at Texel it is time to check out before 11:00 o’clock and travel to Terschelling.
