Ameland day 8 - day 12

Ameland has almost 3700 inhabitants, spread over only four villages and with beautiful untouched nature. Ameland is an welcoming island for tourists and it has its own culture and own dialect derived from the Frisian language.

On day 8, you check out before 11:00 and you leave Terschelling behind you. It is time for something new and the same day you will be checking in on the next island: Ameland. This needs to happen before 18:00. You will be checking in at Camping Roosdunen. There, you will enjoy some free time, you can go to the swimming pool or to the play-yard with the kids if you arrive early and in the evening you can go to the bar or have fun with the trampolines. This is all present at Camping Roosdunen.

On day 9, you will be doing a classic Tuk-Tuk tour over Ameland with two Tuk-Tuk's. Relax, sit tight and discover the beauty of the island. With the Tuk-Tuks, you are your own boss. In the morning, relax, drink a cup of coffee at Strandhuys Buren Ameland and enjoy the view whilst the kids can play on the beach and at the play-yard  next to the restaurant. In the afternoon, get some rest, enjoy the free time and tour over the island with the Tuk-Tuk. Remember that fuel is included in the price you're paying for the Tuk-Tuk, make use of it & enjoy!

On day 10, you will be renting bikes at online bike-renting company Fietsverhuur De Jong. After you have reserved the best bikes, they will be delivered at Camping Roosdunen and they are included in your package. Now that you have discovered some parts of the island with the Tuk-Tuk, you can now complete a cycling route (map is recommended to buy at VVV Nes, Ameland or to order via their website) to see even more of the island! You can use the bikes for the complete day and you do not have to drop them off at a store, they will be picked up again at the Camping.

On day 11, in the afternoon, you will be playing ‘Boerengolf’at the Kiewiet’s Hoeve! ‘Boerengolf’ is the fastest growing outdoor sports in the Netherlands. In between all the cows in the yard you’re playing a different variant of the regular golf sport with 10 holes and an average 200 meters. The sticks that need to be used have typical Dutch clogs at the end, with that you should put the ball in the hole. A nice and fun game to experience the Dutch culture and to play together with your family.
